Tramp: one who travels aimlessly about on foot over long distances, often without a fixed destination.
Hi, I’m Monica, and I am a part-time escape artist. I slip out of my life of routine and responsibility as often as I can to enjoy the novelty of new places. I live for conversations with strangers on trains, clinking glasses in local pubs, and eating my body weight in local cuisine.
I started this website because memory fades over time, and I do not want to forget the name of that little cafe down the cobblestone street in Florence, or that place with the amazing bao buns in Bali. Hopefully my solution to early-onset memory loss also helps a few of you decide which parts of the world you want to see for yourselves.
I am not a lifestyle travel blogger. I’m not going to show you how to quit your job and travel the world making TikToks for a living. I won’t offer influencer-level photos of dream destinations or reels about flying first class to Dubai, because I often have to use my airline miles to book an economy flight with four layovers and ridiculous baggage fees.
I am not going to pretend travel is always glamorous to lure the masses, because it can be challenging and uncomfortable. What I can offer is a few bits of hard-won wisdom on how to see the world — for those who wonder, but are scared to wander.
